A classic Sunnmøre objective rising above Synnylvsmoldskreddalen near Hellesylt. Approached from Ringdalsstøylen, Skruven (1584 m) offers 1100 vertical metres of excellent ski terrain. The ridge can be extended to neighbouring Lisje-Skruven (1548 m). A local favourite rarely crowded.
From the E39 between Hornindal and Stranda, turn off at 'Ringdal' just west of Hellesylt
Follow the farm road up Synnylvsmoldskreddalen all the way to Ringdalsstøylen
Ascend the valley headwall to gain the summit ridge — the angle eases above 1300 m
Watch for cornices along the ridge and avalanche terrain on the steeper flanks near the top
Descent via the same valley or the alternative Russadalen for a natural loop
Moderate — cornices can form on the summit ridge; avalanche terrain on steeper flanks approaching the top
“Skruven is local knowledge. The descent back toward Liabygda holds snow long into spring when every other resort-side peak is tracked out.”
“Not on every guide's radar, but every local knows it. Earn your turns here and you'll understand why the regulars keep it quiet.”
