A striking 1717 m summit east of Hellesylt in the Sunnmøre Alps. Kviteegga offers a long, rewarding ascent through a dramatic valley with over 1200 m of vertical gain. The upper mountain is exposed and requires good conditions. An epic day out for experienced tourers.
Start from the road east of Hellesylt (parking at ~500 m)
Follow the valley south-west, gaining elevation steadily
Above 1200 m the terrain opens — navigate carefully in poor visibility
Summit ridge can be corniced — approach with caution
Descend the same way or explore alternative lines in good conditions
High — long exposure, steep flanks, and corniced summit ridge
“Episk tur — one of the finest ski touring days in Sunnmøre. The valley approach is beautiful and the summit views are unforgettable.”
